CUEVA EM Wilderness Medicine Rotation

March 23, 2026 - April 5, 2026

This 2-week elective provides medical students with immersive, hands-on experience in Wilderness Medicine. Participants will explore the principles of providing medical care in austere, remote, and resource-limited environments. The curriculum includes field simulations, didactic sessions, and practical skills in environmental injuries, rescue techniques, survival strategies, and prehospital care. Students will engage with faculty experienced in emergency and expedition medicine, gaining valuable insight into careers in wilderness and prehospital care.

Prerequisites:  To apply and be accepted for a rotation at CUEVA EM, students must: 
-Fourth year student and be in good standing from an LCME or COCA accredited medical school. 
-Have passed COMLEX or Step 1 examination. 
-Complete a brief statement of interest (<=250 words) about why you are interested in this rotation 
-Attach a current CV 
- Complete all elective and intuitional requirements 
-Personal outdoor gear appropriate for field activities (packing list provided upon acceptance).
